communication, power & on the road again

Some relocation plans afoot for us over the next month - stay tuned. For some reason, when ever I think of travel or relocating, I often think of the wires, lines, roads, microwave towers, communication and the stuff that connects us in tangible and non-tangible ways. Maybe it's just me getting overly philosophical when packing up some of the great gear that has made my career. Anyway...

Think of how we have evolved from the Telegram to Twitter! Some interesting background on Telegraphy here: http://bit.ly/bMxLlx

There was a photographer I assisted when I was a teenager who played this VERY long song in his studio all the time: Telegraph Road (yup - old school) - http://bit.ly/cSqh3F

More news soon!

work ethic

It has been a great year and I got to work with almost all new assistants this year. Some are great some are just OK. John Harrington has a good blog post about earning your place as an assistant.

Assistants - you know who you are - thank you for the hard work, making the production run smoother, going the extra mile, being devoid of entitlement, thinking three and four steps ahead, and most of all, being gracious and polite with my clients and the rest of the crew. Thank you!

collaborative project

This spring/summer, I collaborated on a project for background video for this new website for AREA203 - I shot the dashboard and steering-wheel, and the last few shots. The rest was stock footage. (And I finally got to use my car-mount). It was a really fun collaborative project & I got to work with Paul Mellett and Glenn Conte of Red Car. The idea originally was to illustrate in pictures the origins or hometowns or recreation of the various people in the creative team at AREA203. The whole project was very collaborative with some unusual and interesting workflow.
